One of the injured, Srinivas (22), suffered severe burns and is said to be in a critical condition. Three others, who were rushed to nearby private hospitals, complained of suffocation and minor injuries. One of them, however, refused to be treated, EMRI sources said.

According to sources, the victims were given shelter at the nearby Shiva function hall.

While fire officials present at the site said that the actual cause of fire was yet to be ascertained, preliminary investigations hinted at a cylinder leak. Some even claimed that the fire started due to a short-circuit.

"Investigations are on and we will soon know the actual cause," Ranga Reddy district fire officer P Mohan Reddy said. Fire tenders were sent from Secunderabad, Moula Ali, Malakpet, Hayatnagar, Gowliguda, Musheerabad and Malkajgiri. Post the operation, two fire tenders were stationed at the site in case of any emergency.

Within minutes, the leaping flames enveloped the hut. She used to stay with her relatives and attend school. The young student went home for Holi, but the holiday ended on a tragic note.

At a press conference held at Nellore Press Club here on Saturday, Mr. Rajagopal said the Congress government either at the Centre or in the State had nothing to do with the inclusion of YSR's name in the FIR filed by the CBI in the illegal assets case of YSR Congress Party president Jaganmohan Reddy. It would not be proper to attribute motives in this case, as the CBI investigation began only at the instance of the High Court based on complaints of some individual leaders, he added. Mr. Rajagopal dismissed the allegation that the Congress was meting out a raw deal to the YSR family.

Congress will bite dust, say YSRCP leaders

YSRCP Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, the YSR Congress leaders charged the Congress and TDP of joining hands together to stop the political rise of Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, which is impossible with people of all sections giving their full support to YSR's son. Mr. Prabhakar took objection to the inclusion of YSR's name in the FIR filed by the CBI in the Jaganmohan Reddy assets case and said the Congress party would pay a heavy price for this. He deplored that Congress seemed to have forgotten the fact that YSR breathed new lease of life into the Congress and brought the party back to power in 2004 and ensured its repeat victory in 2009 in the State.

YSR Congress Party senior leader and MLC Jupudi Prabhakar and former Minister M. Mareppa asserted that their party candidate Nallapureddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy will win Kovur by-poll with a huge majority.
