SRIKAKULAM/RAJAHMUNDRY: Departing from his usual style, chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy for the first time let go at two of his tormentors, one insider and another outsider.
While drawing the Lakshman Rekha for health minister D L Ravindra Reddy, the chief minister launched a vehement attack on the Kadapa MP during a byelection campaign rally at Draksharamam in East Godavari district. Claiming to be staggered by Jagan’s wealth, amassed by blindsiding his father Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, he also claimed that the late chief minister’s legacy -- which the Kadapa MP claims as a birthright -- rightly belongs to the Congress.
For weeks, Kiran Kumar’s critics had been barracking him for being soft on Jagan, with Ravindra Reddy even calling him a covert operative of the YSRC leader. But taking everyone by surprise on Monday, Kiran Kumar came down heavily on Jagan Mohan Reddy: “He has built a palace with 80 rooms! What kind of a person would need that? You can imagine the kind of person Jagan Mohan Reddy is.”
All through his campaign tour, the chief minister was a man touched to the quick. At Srikaklulam, he spelt out the party line to Ravindra Reddy: “If he does not mend his ways, he’ll have to face action.”  He said the party high command would give Ravindra Reddy time to eat his words, and move in for summary action, if he did not do so.
At Draksharamam, he went for Jagan’s jugular. “The late YSR dreamt of making Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister in 2014. And here is Jagan Mohan Reddy trying to obliterate the dream,” Kiran said.
“Despite being the son of a life-long Congress man, Jagan is now hobnobbing with TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu and TRS president K Chandrasekhara Rao to bring down the state government,” he said.
Kiran Kumar Reddy recalled YSR telling him at a Congress Legislature Party meeting that no Congress man, under any circumstances, should work against the interests of the party. “You should obey the orders of the high command,” he quoted YSR.  “Jagan Reddy was also there at the meeting that day. But what did he learn from his father?”
At both Srikakulam and Draksharamam, he criticised Jagan for bringing these byelections upon  the people only to serve his own interests. “No one wanted these elections. It is an additional expenditure which people would have to bear. Because of bypolls, development work has come to a standstill for 50 days,” he said.

YSRCP takes up membership drive

                                                                      

YSR Congress Party city and Guntur district observer P. Gowtham Reddy launched the party's membership drive in 19th, 43rd, and 58th divisions in Vijayawada on Sunday and the exercise continued on Monday also.

Mr. Gowtham Reddy along with party leaders visited the colonies, enquired the residents about their problems and participated in a few inaugurations.

In the 58th division (Singh Nagar), a few party activists from Telugu Desam and CPI (M) joined the YSR Congress Party. About 100 youth joined the party in the presence of Mr. Gowtham Reddy in 43rd division.

The party city in-charge along with local leader Adi Seshagiri Rao and others enquired the people about their problems. Women complained that there was severe drinking water problem in Kasturibai Peta.

The locals said that water was not being supplied regularly and women were facing acute shortage of potable water in the locality. Later, Mr. Gowtham Reddy inaugurated a water kiosk at Nimma Thota centre.

YSRCP 45th division convenor K.P. Naidu, 58th division convenor Sivamma, local leaders T. Shyam, Gokaneswara Rao, and others participated.

Jagan's dream will never come true: CM

                                                                            

Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has said that former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy had asked party workers not to work against the party's candidate or functionary.

“Before formally getting elected as leader of the Congress Legislature Party after the 2009 elections, YSR told all the elected MLAs that he had worked against some official candidates but urged them not to do the same in the future, ”said Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy , adding that the late leader probably had his son Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy in mind.

Crores accumulated

Addressing a mammoth gathering here on Monday, the Chief Minister went hammer and tongs at Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy. The YSR Congress Party leader had accumulated thousands of crores when his father was at the helm of affairs and constructed a huge bungalow with 70 to 80 bedrooms in one lakh square feet. “Is it for the welfare of the people? The poor cannot afford to build a house in 100 square feet unlike this man (Jagan) who is constructing huge houses,” he said.

Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy's aim was mainly to loot money from people after becoming Chief Minister, but his dream would never come true.

The Chief Minister alleged that TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao, TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu and Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy wanted to topple his government.

He promised that he would develop Ramachandrapuram if party candidate Thota Trimurthulu was elected. Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao, who spoke earlier, described Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy as ‘a coward.'

Kiran making baseless charges against Jagan, says Ambati

                                                                               

YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader Ambati Rambabu has said their party president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy has no need to conspire with any other party to destabilise the government which is already on the brink of collapse due to internal strife. The very existence of the government is doubtful and it is ridiculous to say that attempts are being made by its detractors to pull it down, he said.

‘Common target'

Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy has obviously become the common target of the Congress and the TDP which have a tacit understanding to stifle his imminent rise to stardom. The timing of the no-confidence motion was a part of their secret pact.

Addressing media persons here on Monday, Mr. Rambabu said Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy was making baseless allegations against Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy and he seemed to be reading out the script prepared by TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu, who wasted no opportunity to tarnish the image of Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy and his father Rajasekhara Reddy. Mr. Naidu could not prove the allegations and he started abusing Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy in the name of religion and caste. Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy, Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao and Rajahmundry MP V. Arun Kumar launched a direct attack on the character of Rajasekhara Reddy.

Unfortunately, Mr. Arun Kumar, who was a staunch loyalist of Rajasekhara Reddy, lent his voice to the anti-YSR campaign. It is no surprise that Rajasekhara Reddy was targeted by his sworn enemies such as V. Hanumantha Rao, G.V. Harsha Kumar, and Kiran Kumar Reddy who was never close to the departed leader.

Court summons to Jagan

                                                                        

The principal court for CBI cases has issued summons to Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy and eleven other individuals and body corporates to appear before it on May 28 in connection with the assets case against him.

The court asked all of them to mark their appearance on that day as it had taken cognizance of the first charge-sheet filed against them by the investigating agency on March 31. The second charge-sheet was filed on April 23 and the third one on Monday for which separate summons would be issued.

Apart from Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy, others who were served the summons included his financial advisor V. Vijay Sai Reddy, Aurobindo Pharma represented by its managing director K. Nityananda Reddy, Hetero group of companies represented by its director M. Srinivasa Reddy, Trident Life Sciences Limited represented by its managing director P. Sarath Chandra Reddy; and in their individual capacities: M. Srinivasa Reddy, K. Nityananda Reddy and P. Sarath Chandra Reddy, suspended IAS officer B.P. Acharya, general manager (projects) of AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Yaddanapudi Vijaya Lakshmi Prasad, company secretary of Aurobindo Pharma P.S. Chandramouli and Jagati Publications represented by its chairman Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy.

Except Mr. Acharya who is in jail in the Emaar scandal, all others would stand trial for offences under both IPC and Prevention of Corruption Act.
