Hyderabad:Power cut today

Hyderabad: APEPDL will impose power cut in the following areas on Wednesday from 9.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. due to maintenance works: Pandurangapuram, Mythrinagar, Officers' Club, RK beach and Kali temple area. The power disruption is caused due to interruption on 11kv Pandurangapuram and 11kv RK Beach feeders for maintenance of four pole structure.

YSR Congress Party leaders on Tuesday said the Congress had lost the people's confidence across the country and it was proved with the elections in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and other States“Rahul Gandhi cannot become Prime Minister forever. His tours and speeches have become futile exercise in Uttar Pradesh. Regional parties will dominate the next general elections and YSR Congress Party would play a key role in national politics,” Mr. Ravindrababu and Mr. Kirankumar said. They hoped the YSR Congress would win Narasannapeta seat.

 

. Addressing a media conference, senior leaders of the party Rowtu Seetarama Swamy, Duppala Ravindrababu, and Hanumanthu Kirankumar said the Congress high command was responsible for the party's debacle as it had never allowed local leadership to prove its mettle.

Mr. Ramana Kumar said that strict monitoring was in place at all 15 check posts set up on borders of district and also Kovur Assembly segment. So far, Rs.81.54 lakh of unaccounted money was seized and handed over to the IT officer of the flying squad concerned.

Mr. Sridhar, who reviewed the latest situation, said that all steps were taken and close monitoring was taking place in co-ordination with banks to see if anybody had withdrawn amounts higher than Rs.10 lakh during the by-poll. DRDA project director had been instructed to monitor and check bank accounts of SHG groups and see if there were deposits from sources other than the district administration. There were complaints that some parties were directly depositing cash in SHG groups' accounts to lure voters.

A sub-inspector of police and an ASI were suspended while some constables were issued memos for not checking the vehicle of Finance Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy at the check post put up as part of Kovur Assembly segment by-election.

SI K. Sekhar Babu and ASI M. Chennaiah were found guilty of allowing the Minister's vehicle to pass without any checking on Sunday. As it proved true during enquiry, they were suspended and election code would be strictly implemented without any partiality, said District Collector B. Sridhar and superintendent of police B. V. Ramana Kumar.

About 150 liquor bottles and some ganja too were seized during the checking.

The District Collector appealed to leaders and candidates of respective parties to not make personalised comments during election and that action would be initiated against those indulging in such remarks as per the election code.

Lucknow: After ousting the BSP government of Mayawati with its impressive comeback in politically crucial state of Uttar Pradesh, the parliamentary board of the Samajwadi Party will meet on Wednesday to decide who will be the next chief minister.


Although, Mulayam Singh Yadav will be chosen as the leader of the Samajwadi Party parliamentary board, there is a growing clamour for the coronation of his son Akhilesh, who is the man responsible for his party’s resurgence in UP.


Though, Akhilesh himself maintains that the reins of power will remain in the hands of his father, most of the newly-elected party MLAs, senior leaders and party workers fee that it is time for rewarding Akhilesh for pulling the party out of morass and scripting a new image for the party.

The meeting of the parliamentary board of the party is slated to start at 11 am during which name of the party chief ministerial candidate will be decided.

When asked who will be the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh told reporters with all humility that Neta ji will be in hot seat. He and other party leaders including Ram Gopal Yadav and Shivpal Singh Yadav also categorically ruled out there was any dispute or any ambiguity over the leadership issue.

However, they maintained that any decision taken by the party chief and the parliamentary board would be acceptable to all of them.

So in this context, in would be interesting to see if SP chief feels the pulse of his supporters and decides to anoint his son-who has been the game changer for Samajawadi Party- the chief minister of the state to carry forward his legacy and fulfil the hopes of the state.
