Jagan DA case: Sakshi TV accounts to be defreezed

Hyderabad: There is some relief for YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy in the disproportionate assets case. The Andhra Pradesh High Court has ordered that the accounts of his media company Sakhi TV be defreezed. But the Fixed Deposits held by his companies will remain frozen.
The leader of YSR Congress is under investigation for owning disproportionate assets. The state government had earlier issued orders to attach Jagan Reddy's properties, which include Sakshi TV.
Meanwhile, Jagan Reddy on Tuesday shot off a letter to the Prime Minister saying he might be arrested before the June 12 by-elections in Andhra Pradesh. He accused the Congress and the Opposition TDP of acting in concert against him.
The CBI, investigating into alleged disproportionate assets of the YSR Congress chief, had filed three chargesheets in the case and had approached banks for freezing the accounts of the three companies, including the two media entities.
Following the development, amounts to tune of Rs 2.85 crore in current accounts maintained by the firms in different banks here besides fixed deposit of Rs 103 crore stood frozen.

Jagan writes to PM on 'conspiracy' against him

Hyderabad: Kadapa MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has written a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh seeking his intervention to prevent an alleged conspiracy being hatched against him by the Congress in collusion with the Telugu Desam Party and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

In the letter to the Prime Minister on Tuesday, the YSR Congress president alleged that Andhra Pradesh Governor ESL Narasimhan too was being made party to the conspiracy, aimed at arresting him and getting the June 12 by-elections in the state put off.

"I sincerely request you to use your good offices and get to the bottom of the undemocratic and shameful conspiracy and prevent it," Jagan said in the letter to the Prime Minister. (Read Jagan's letter to PM)

The CBI says that Jagan was able to build his colossal empire -his assets were worth 365 crore rupees last year-  because his father used his position as chief minister to pressure companies to invest in Jagan's firms. But Jagan alleges that the Centre has misused CBI against him in the assets case. He slammed the Opposition after the CBI moved to freeze accounts of his companies. He alleged that the move was an attempt to politically stifle him ahead of the by-elections in the state. He also questioned the CBI's action against his companies.

Jagan quit the Congress last year after a 14-month long rebellion that began when his father, YSR Reddy, died in a helicopter crash. The conflict began when the party's central leadership did not pick Jagan to replace him. Since then, Jagan fell out with the Congress. He has since formed his own party, the YSR Congress.  For the last two years, he has conducted his odarpu yatra, a tour that has allowed him to visit thousands of homes who said they were in mourning for his father. The roadshow has led to a mass connect that most politicians can only dream of.

Jagan claimed that senior Congress leader Vyalar Ravi during his visit here last week had secret meetings with Chief Minister N. Kirankumar Reddy, TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu, CBI joint director laxminarayana and Director General of Police V. Dinesh Reddy.
Jagan alleged that police were trying to create a situation in Hyderabad on May 28, the day when he is to appear in CBI court. "The DGP office issued a confidential circular to seal off all the roads leading to Hyderabad on May 27 night," he said.

YSRCP confident of sweeping the bypolls

Leaders of the YSR Congress Party are confident that the party will win in all the 18 Assembly constituencies that are going to the by-elections on June 12. The Congress and the Telugu Desam will lose their deposits, they say.
Addressing newsmen here on Tuesday, party district official spokesman G. Mutha Reddy said, unable to digest the overwhelming response from the people to the YSRCP in the State, the Congress and the TDP were making efforts to stall the by-elections.
“The CBI is harassing Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy and the State and Central governments are supporting the CBI as the Kadapa MP parted ways with the Congress,” he alleged. District Steering Committee member of the party S. Venkateswar Reddy lashed out at TDP district president Devineni Umamaheswara Rao for terming the YSRCP president as a traitor.
Dig at Lagadapati
Terming Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal as an “unfit leader,” Mr. Reddy said it was Mr. Rajagopal who heaped praise on the former Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, and his family members. “Now, Mr. Rajagopal is criticising Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy due to vested interests,” he alleged. YSRCP East constituency in charge V. Santan Kumar and minority leader Mohammad Khaleel Rehaman were present.

YSRCP leaders go all out against Kiran

In an apparent retaliation to Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy's attack on their leader and Kadapa MP, Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, the Chittoor district leaders of the YSRCP levelled critical and personal remarks against him and his forefathers.
The die-hard YSR followers and the leaders of the YSR Congress Party's farmers wing in a signed statement not only referred to Kiran's own erstwhile Cabinet colleague Shankar Rao dubbing him as ‘red-sander smuggler' but also to the ‘unsavoury' incidents involving his (Kiran's) father and even his forefathers during the British era.
Taking serious exception to Kiran deliberately trying to portray Mr. Jagan as a ‘criminal and land-shark' -- all to please his Delhi bosses and protect his ‘gadde', the YSRCP leaders asked whether it was not a fact that his forefathers during the British regime had allegedly given shelter to two noted dacoits of that time. They also asserted that there are ‘watch out' entries made to this effect by a senior British police officer in the old records of the Kalikiri Police Station.
The YSRCP leaders asked Mr. Kiran whether it was not a fact that his father, during his student days. had not ‘assaulted' his teacher in the Kalikiri High School.
Turning to Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy they charged that it was he who allegedly put a spoke in the revival of the locked up Vijaya Dairy unit of Chittoor for an alleged quid pro quo from the managements of the private dairy units. They also expressed their ire at Kiran Reddy immediately after becoming the Chief Minister reportedly claiming himself to be a ‘Hyderabadi' and asked it was not an act of cowardice fearing attack from pro-Telengana leaders.
They also recalled the CPI-M state secretary, B.V. Raghavulu's allegation against the Chief Minister that he had ‘usurped' 4.32 acres of land belonging to the Dalits in the K.R. Puram area in Bangalore and asked why he was keeping mum on the charge.
Among other signatories to the statement are D. Gunasekhar Naidu, Adimulam, M. Ravichandra Reddy.
