Jagan slams Congress, TD

Claiming that the present byelections were being conducted between justice and injustice, the YSR Congress president, Mr Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, urged people to vote for the YSR Congress candidates known for their integrity.
Addressing people at Rayachoti in Kadapa district as part of byelection campaign on Saturday, he alleged that Congress government was shunning welfare schemes introduced by Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy.
Mr Jagan alleged that the Congress and the Telugu Desam launched a slander campaign against him and his family to gain political benefit. He alleged that these two parties were unable to digest the growing popularity of the YSR Congress in the state.
Mr Jagan said that he was getting overwhelming support from people in all parts of the state. He promised to implement the schemes launched by YSR if elected to power.
The YSR Congress president said that his party would work for the welfare of farmers, women, youth and the weaker sections and would not let down people. He said that YSR had helped in Muslims in education and employment.
He alleged that present Congress government was trying to claim credit for the schemes launched by YSR and urged people to teach a lesson to the Congress government. Mr Jagan said that the bypoll results should become a slap for the Congress leaders in the state and also in Delhi. He said that he was striving to implement the schemes launched by YSR and urged people to elect the YSR Congress candidates with a huge majority.
Rayachoti candidate G. Srikanth Reddy, party district convenor K. Suresh Babu and others were present. Meanwhile, former Lakkireddypalle MLA G. Dwarakanath Reddy joined the YSR Congress in the presence of Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Senior TDP leader may join Jagan party

In a rude jolt to the Telugu Desam Party, Sambangi Venkata China Appala Naidu, former MLA and senior leader from Bobbili, on Friday announced that he was quitting the party.
At a meeting with his supporters, Mr. Naidu said he was not being invited even to party meetings, including the recent protest by party president N. Chandrababu Naidu, against the liquor syndicate. The decision was “painful” because he served the party for 30 years. Telugu Yuvatha secretary A. Uma Maheswara Rao and a couple of sarpanches also quit the party. Mr. Naidu is likely to join the YSR Congress Party.

Jagan to campaign in Anantapur for by-polls

YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy is all set to embark on a two-day tour of Anantapur district covering two Assembly segments of Anantapur and Rayadurgam, which are going to forthcoming by-polls.
An interesting fact about the current tour of Jaganmohan Reddy is that the YSR Congress is yet to announce its candidature for both the Assembly segments, while the main political parties TDP and the Congress have already done the same.
Although the candidature for the Anantapur Assembly has been uncontested within the party, with the candidate being the incumbent MLA B. Gurunath Reddy, the candidate for the Rayadurgam constituency is also learnt to be finalised with the party cadre getting down to work seeking the votes for the incumbent MLA Kapu Ramachandra Reddy himself.
But rumours did do the rounds sounding the names of other leaders for the Rayadurgam Assembly ticket. But, the recent by-poll preparations seem to put all such rumours to rest.
Jaganmohan Reddy would embark of road shows in both the Anantapur and the Rayadurgam constituencies and if previous road shows are anything to go by the attendance of people is also going to be considerable in size.
Although the Congress party, in a clever move, has declared its candidate a minority woman Murshida Begum, who is the wife of Anantapur Municipal minority Congress leader Rasheed, the YSR Congress expressed confidence that they would get the minority vote untouched.
They argue that the Congress candidate did not have either political experience of contesting an election nor the charisma to move away the minority votes from the YSR Congress.
Meanwhile, the contest in Rayadurgam is expected to a closer fight given the fact that Kapu Ramachandra Reddy does not enjoy the confidence of many of the mandal level and village level leaders besides, TDP candidate Deepak Reddy being a strong contender.

YSRCP lodges complaint against Naidu

The row raging over YSRCP president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy's controversial visit to the temple of Lord Venkateswara, Tirumala without signing the mandatory declaration required in the case of ‘non-Hindus' has taken a curious turn on Saturday.
YSRCP's Chandragiri constituency convener and the former TUDA Chairman, Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, lodged a complaint with the Superintendent of Police, Tirupati Urban District, J. Prabhakar Rao demanding action against TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu for allegedly trying to whip up religious and communal passions during the election meetings he addressed at Tirupati on Saturday and on April 25 also, targeting Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy and his religious identity.
Chevireddy, in his complaint to the Superintendent of Police, copies of which were released to the media has made a specific reference to a reported remark made by Chandrababu Naidu against Jagan during his election meeting at M.R. Palle area on April 25 , allegedly dubbing him as an “atheist who had never visited Lord Venkateswara's temple for darshan”.
In his complaint, similarly he also referred to Naidu's remarks against Jagan during in his election meetings at Tirupati on Saturday charging Jagan that he had ‘high-handedly violated the Sampradaya and rules of the TTD”. Chevireddy asserted that Jaganmohan Reddy had complied with all formalities by purchasing VIP Break Darshan tickets and charged Naidu with spreading canards against the YSRCP president to degrade his reputation.
He demanded action from the SP against the TDP president on the ground that Naidu allegedly violated the Model Election Code and the Representation of People's Act, which prohibited seeking votes in the name of religion, caste, etc. and also blamed him that he tried to cause enmity and hatred among people.
