In a rude jolt to the Telugu Desam Party, Sambangi
Venkata China Appala Naidu, former MLA and senior leader from Bobbili,
on Friday announced that he was quitting the party.
At
a meeting with his supporters, Mr. Naidu said he was not being invited
even to party meetings, including the recent protest by party president
N. Chandrababu Naidu, against the liquor syndicate. The decision was
“painful” because he served the party for 30 years. Telugu Yuvatha
secretary A. Uma Maheswara Rao and a couple of sarpanches also quit the
party. Mr. Naidu is likely to join the YSR Congress Party.
