Congress, TDP distorting facts, alleges YSR Congress

YSR Congress has taken strong objection to the way in which the ruling Congress and the main opposition TDP were trying to camouflage the assembly records showing the remarks of YSR during his term as chief minister in poor light.
"Drawing parallel between the Margadarsi and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's case is totally beyond reasonable comprehension and the way things are being projected through slides is not in good taste," party spokesperson Jupudi Prabhakar toldeporters here.
What YSR questioned was the way in which funds were collected by Margadarsi, registered under HUF, and has channeled the public funds to other business interests while what is being projected now is totally objectionable material which is far from truth, he said.
When Rs 2,600 crores collected under HUF was diverted to Ushodaya group, YSR said the matter should be probed in to and when some of the people who described it as an assault on freedom of press even at Delhi level were not to be seen anywhere.
The Supreme Court has clearly told Romoji Rao's Counsel that Ramoji Rao as an individual is different from Ramoji Rao as an owner of a media house.
When Margadarsi case unfolded, YSR did not stop advertisements to Eenadu nor did he issue a GO to trouble the newspaper but allowed the law to run its own case.
Contrast to what happened then, the State government has issued the black GO to ban advertisements to Sakshi media house as there was a case pending against the organization. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy did not react to any of the statementsut only voiced his concern when the accounts were frozen, he said.
A government inquiry was ordered into the Margadarsi case while a CBI inquiry is on in YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's case.
While questions are being raised that why YSR did not raise his voice when there was a case against Ramoji Rao, Jupudi said, and YS Jagan raised his voice only after everyone was convinced that there was an assault on freedom of presseginning the freezing of bank accounts of Sakshi group and the black GO stalling advertisements.
After getting the feedback from surveys that people are against them and their defeat is certain in the June 12 by-polls, both Congress and TDP have been methodically resorting to unfair tactics to unleash a bundle of lies incessantly, but the results will be on expected lines and YSRC will win all the 18 assembly and Nellore Lok Sabha seat with a thumping majority, he said.

Ill appear before court: Jagan

ANANTAPUR: Kadapa MP and YSR Congress chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, here on Friday, said he will appear before the court on May 28. Speaking to Express during the election campaign in Gummagatta mandal of Rayadurgam constituency in Anantapur district, Jagan Reddy said he was a law abiding citizen and would respond to the court summons.
“As for the speculation over my arrest, why would I be arrested. What crime have I committed. Can I be arrested because I am a political rival of the ruling party?” he asked.
Referring to the freezing of accounts, he said, "How atrocious! The bank accounts of Sakshi group were frozen today for the investments made four years ago. It is nothing but a vindictive act.”
He said both Congress and TDP have colluded with each other and some media organisations to malign him. "They do not want any other political party gain a foothold in the state,” he said. Jagan is confident that freezing of the bank accounts will only increase the chances of his party candidates in the bypolls.
SLAMS GOVT: Continuing his tirade against Congress party, Jaganmohan Reddy said the ruling party is arm-twisting CBI to malign a person posthomously.
Addressing a gathering at Rayadurgam constituency during the election campaign, Jagan asked as to why the CBI was silent over the land allotment in Hyderabad by TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu in favour of his relatives.
He reiterated that the election was a fight between honesty and deceitfulness.
The Kadapa MP called upon people to cast their votes with sincerity. He said the MLAs resigned for the sake of people. People should show that they (MLAs) had done a right thing by re-electing them. He lambasted the government for its anti farmer policies. YSRC candidatefor the Rayadurgam seat Ramachandra Reddy, leaders Y Visweswara Reddy, Veeranjaneyulu, T Kavitha were among the leaders present.

AP: Vijayamma goes to SC against Naidu

HYDERABAD: YSR Congress honorary president and Pulivendula MLA YS Vijayamma, on Friday, filed a petition before the Supreme Court challenging the AP High Court’s decision to dismiss her plea for an inquiry by CBI and other central agencies into alleged disproportionate assets of former chief minister and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu and others. The matter is likely to come up for hearing after the court reopens after vacation beginning Saturday.
It may be recalled that the High Court division bench comprising justice G Rohini and justice Ashutosh Mohunta on February 16 dismissed the public interest petition of Vijayamma, widow of the late YS Rajasekhara Reddy, seeking CBI probe into alleged disproportionate assets of Chandrababu Naidu.
The bench declared the order issued by another division bench on November 14, 2011, ordering a preliminary inquiry by the CBI against Naidu and others, to be a violation of the principles of natural justice.
It observed that there was political rivalry between YSR Congress and TDP and the present writ petition appeared to be a counter attack to the investigation ordered against the petitioner’s son (Kadapa MP Jagan Mohan Reddy). The petition amounted to abuse of the process of court in the guise of a PIL, it remarked.
Vijayamma, in her 45-pages petition before the Apex Court, asked whether it was appropriate for the HC bench to dismiss her petition when another bench had earlier ordered an enquiry into the issue. She said she had ‘doubts’ against justice Rohini and urged that the petition be not heard by the judge. However, a bench headed by justice Rohini dismissed the petition, she said.

More jolts to Jagan likely

The CBI has decided to file six more chargesh-eets in the Jagan disproportionate assets case.
The process of issuing a GO for attachment of properties in the name of Sakshi and other companies and individuals accused was also speeded up by the CBI and the state government.
The companies are already facing a tough time, with bank accou-nts frozen and a ban on government advertisements besides reports on the impending arrest of their young leader.
The GO on the seizure and attachment of properties is also expected in the next fe days, the process being in the final stage, sources said.
The issuance of a GO under the Criminal Law Amendment Act will be brought to the notice of the CBI’s trial court.
After the attachment of properties, the ED will also come into the picture, with the chargesh-eets to be handed over to it by the CBI court where the Prevention of Money Laundering Act will apply.

Reddys, Balijas can tilt the balance in Tirupati

As far as the Tirupati assembly constituency is concerned, the candidates from the Reddy and Balija communities have made it to the goal post in the past with ease.
While both the political parties have overtly chosen candidates from either of the communities obviously to ‘play it safe', the voters too have emphatically returned such candidates.
The financially-strong Reddys are a dominant community, while the numerically-strong Balijas are over a third of the population. Going by the constituency's track record since the Assembly elections held in 1955, the segment has always been represented by these communities, barring two occasions.
After the constituency was formed, it was Reddivari Nadamuni Reddy who won with a thumping majority on behalf of the Congress in 1955 and again in 1962. Later, Agarala Eswara Reddi won on behalf of the Swatantra Party in 1967. In 1972, the Congress chose a dark horse Vijaya Sikhamani for the seat in 1972, who became the first person from the Dalit community to win the Tirupati segment. It was again the turn of Dr. Eswara Reddi to romp home in 1978.
After the launch of the Telugu Desam Party, thespian and party founder N.T. Rama Rao chose Tirupati as his springboard and won with a huge margin. Though he became the first Kamma to get elected from Tirupati, his victory could also be attributed to his charisma as a film star and a mass political leader. After he chose to resign from Tirupati the same year, the TDP gave the ticket to Katthula Shyamala, the first Balija candidate from the constituency, who won on the high tide of NTR's popularity and the woman sentiment.
The Congress fielded Mabbu Rami Reddy, who won with ease in 1985 and again in 1989. As the Congress relied more on Reddy candidates, the TDP reposed faith the numerically-strong Balijas. TDP's A. Mohan won the seat in 1994. In 1999, TDP chose another Balija candidate Chadalawada Krishnamurthy, who retained the party's vote bank. Bucking to pressure this time from Balija leaders in the party, the Congress, which was desperately in need of a victory, gave ticket to M. Venkatramana, who sailed through with ease with the help of the anti-incumbency wave against the TDP regime.
When Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) was formed, its founder K.Chiranjeevi, also belonging to the Kapu/Balija community, stood from this segment and won with ease against the Congress' B. Karunakar Reddy.
Barring Vijaya Sikhamani and NTR, the legislators of Tirupati have always been from the above two communities. With both the Congress and TDP fielding M. Venkatramana and Chadalawada Krishnamurthy as their respective candidates this time, that the Balija community holds sway over the constituency is clear, while the YSR Congress is fielding YSR's trusted lieutenant B. Karunakar Reddy.
There's little surprise then that the voters among the two communities are vertically split over the candidate's caste, rather than on political ideology!
