Jagan to appear in court on May 28

The appearance of Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy in the principal court for CBI cases at Nampally on May 28 in response to summons became a certainty on Monday as the court reserved order till that date on a petition seeking “postponement, deferment and adjournment” of the proceedings.
The judge A. Pullaiah said, after hearing arguments in the petition, “Let them appear. It is only their first appearance.”

Court returns CBI's papers for attaching Jagan's properties

A city civil court on Monday returned papers filed by CBI seeking to attach hundreds of properties of three companies belonging to Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy and those of his former aide N. Sunil Reddy and Trimex group chairman Koneru Prasad, after raising certain objections.
The court asked the investigating agency to meet the objections within a week before going ahead. The court also returned the caveat filed on behalf of Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy on Saturday, pointing out deficiencies in the petition.
He was also given the same period to comply with the instructions.
Sources said the CBI listed out properties equal to the tainted amount in the three charge-sheets filed in the case against Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy so far.
But the court raised an objection that the list did not contain particulars of scheduled properties that were sought to be attached in relation to his companies – Jagati Publications, Indira Television and Janani Infrastructure.
As the properties were spread out in different districts of the State, the court asked the CBI to explain whether it had jurisdiction over such places since it was supposed to be for litigation in the city.
The court also took objection to the CBI referring to the properties as ‘benami' instead of attributing them to the respondents.
The court asked the CBI to clarify whether there were third party claims on the properties that were named. The discrepancies in the identity of vakalatnama holder and the petitioner and the failure of CBI to pay the process fee were also pointed out by the court.
In the case of caveat seeking notice to Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy before initiating attachment proceedings, the court asked him to clarify on what basis he sought the relief in a vacation court; whether he wanted it to be before the designated chief judge as ‘persona designate' or chief judge court.
He failed to enclose the government order permitting attachment of his properties.
The court asked Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy to specify how a caveat was maintainable without referring to the grounds for relief.
It also sought from him identity of properties against which relief was sought.

Teach a fitting lesson to Congress, TDP: Jagan

YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy launched his by-election campaign in Macherla constituency on Monday with an appeal to the electorate to vote his party candidate Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy and thus teach a lesson to the Congress and the TDP which indulged in petty politics.
Addressing a public meeting at Kotthur village, Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy said Mr. Ramakrishna Reddy sacrificed his MLA seat knowing well that voting in favour of the no-confidence motion, moved by the TDP, attracts disqualification which happened after much dilly-dallying in the ruling party.
Mr. Ramakrishna Reddy quit his post in the interest of the poor people, particularly farmers and hence deserved re-election.
The Congress and the TDP would play all the tricks to defeat the YSR Congress Party .
If people want development and ethical politics, they have no alternative except to vote the YSRCP, Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy asserted.

CBI probe sought into assets of YSRCP leaders

City Congress president Pyla Sominaidu has demanded a CBI inquiry into the personal assets of YSR Congress Party leaders Jaleel Khan and P. Gowtham Reddy.
Addressing a press conference to condemn the remarks made by the two YSRCP leaders against Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal here on Monday, Mr. Sominaidu said that it was common knowledge how Mr. Jaleel Khan and Mr. Reddy acquired the huge properties that they were in possession today.
He alleged that Mr. Jaleel Khan became rich by ‘plundering the Indian Railways', while Mr. Reddy became rich by doing extra-legal settlements and encroachments. He said neither of these leaders had the stature to make remarks against the Vijayawada MP.
He said that when Mr. Reddy left the Communist Party of India (CPI) to join the Congress, it was the Vijayawada MP who welcomed him with open arms.
Having benefited from him, Mr. Reddy was resorting to mud-slinging after joining the YSR Congress Party. This showed how low he could stoop for cheap politics, he said.
Condemning the statements of the two leaders, Mr. Sominaidu said that the people of the city would not excuse them if they do not tender a public apology to the MP.
PCC secretary Merugu Prasad said that the two leaders were reiterating the point that Mr Rajagopal became MP after ‘backstabbing' his father-in-law Parvathaneni Upendra.
“They don't know the meaning of backstabbing. NTR was backstabbed by his son-in-law. It happened while he was in power, but Upendra helped Mr. Rajagopal get the party ticket,” Mr. Prasad said.
