CBI probe sought into assets of YSRCP leaders

City Congress president Pyla Sominaidu has demanded a CBI inquiry into the personal assets of YSR Congress Party leaders Jaleel Khan and P. Gowtham Reddy.
Addressing a press conference to condemn the remarks made by the two YSRCP leaders against Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal here on Monday, Mr. Sominaidu said that it was common knowledge how Mr. Jaleel Khan and Mr. Reddy acquired the huge properties that they were in possession today.
He alleged that Mr. Jaleel Khan became rich by ‘plundering the Indian Railways', while Mr. Reddy became rich by doing extra-legal settlements and encroachments. He said neither of these leaders had the stature to make remarks against the Vijayawada MP.
He said that when Mr. Reddy left the Communist Party of India (CPI) to join the Congress, it was the Vijayawada MP who welcomed him with open arms.
Having benefited from him, Mr. Reddy was resorting to mud-slinging after joining the YSR Congress Party. This showed how low he could stoop for cheap politics, he said.
Condemning the statements of the two leaders, Mr. Sominaidu said that the people of the city would not excuse them if they do not tender a public apology to the MP.
PCC secretary Merugu Prasad said that the two leaders were reiterating the point that Mr Rajagopal became MP after ‘backstabbing' his father-in-law Parvathaneni Upendra.
“They don't know the meaning of backstabbing. NTR was backstabbed by his son-in-law. It happened while he was in power, but Upendra helped Mr. Rajagopal get the party ticket,” Mr. Prasad said.
