The row raging over YSRCP president Y.S. Jaganmohan
Reddy's controversial visit to the temple of Lord Venkateswara, Tirumala
without signing the mandatory declaration required in the case of
‘non-Hindus' has taken a curious turn on Saturday.
YSRCP's
Chandragiri constituency convener and the former TUDA Chairman,
Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, lodged a complaint with the Superintendent of
Police, Tirupati Urban District, J. Prabhakar Rao demanding action
against TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu for allegedly trying to whip
up religious and communal passions during the election meetings he
addressed at Tirupati on Saturday and on April 25 also, targeting Y.S.
Jaganmohan Reddy and his religious identity.
Chevireddy,
in his complaint to the Superintendent of Police, copies of which were
released to the media has made a specific reference to a reported remark
made by Chandrababu Naidu against Jagan during his election meeting at
M.R. Palle area on April 25 , allegedly dubbing him as an “atheist who
had never visited Lord Venkateswara's temple for darshan”.
In
his complaint, similarly he also referred to Naidu's remarks against
Jagan during in his election meetings at Tirupati on Saturday charging
Jagan that he had ‘high-handedly violated the Sampradaya and rules of
the TTD”. Chevireddy asserted that Jaganmohan Reddy had complied with
all formalities by purchasing VIP Break Darshan tickets and charged
Naidu with spreading canards against the YSRCP president to degrade his
reputation.
He demanded action from the SP against
the TDP president on the ground that Naidu allegedly violated the Model
Election Code and the Representation of People's Act, which prohibited
seeking votes in the name of religion, caste, etc. and also blamed him
that he tried to cause enmity and hatred among people.
