Guntur (AP), Apr 3 (PTI) A 23-year-old woman suffered
a miscarriage after she was allegedly beaten up by her husband
and in-laws after they came to know that she was going to
deliver a baby girl at Tenali town in Andhra Pradesh's Guntur
district, police said today.
The accused Al-Baksh and his parents were anticipating
a male child and allegedly thrashed Sheikh Munni, who was in
8th month of her pregnancy, that led to miscarriage on March
10, they said quoting the complainant.
According to the victim's parents, who lodged a
complaint with Tenali III Town Police, Al-Baksh and his family
members approached a tantrik in Vijayawada after Munni earlier
delivered two baby girls. The tantrik reportedly advised the
accused that his wife would give birth to a baby boy only on
her 7th delivery.
"Al-Baksh and his family members got killed the third
child, a 20-day-baby girl, after giving her some tablets about
four years ago while Munni had to undergo forceful abortions
with regard to the fourth and fifth deliveries. Subsequently,
on March 10, Al-Baksh and his parents beat up Munni with rods
and bucket on her stomach that led to miscarriage (on her
sixth delivery)," police said quoting the complainant.
According to police, the woman was kept under
house-arrest after the incident by her husband and his family
members. She, however, managed to escape and was subsequently
admitted in a local hospital at Mangalagiri town and her
parents were informed about the matter around 10 days back,
who in turn lodged a complaint.
Tenali III Town Police registered a case and arrested
Al-Baksh and his parents who were sent to judicial remand,
while further investigations are on.
