Anantapur:Jagan hits out at Congress

YSR Congress Party president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, on the first day of his tour of Anantapur district,

decried the Congress for neglecting the people in the State even as he asked the people to vote for the party in the by-elections.

Speaking at a road show in Venugopal Nagar and other areas which are going to the polls as a part of the Anantapur Assembly constituency, he said that the elections were between the poor people supported by YSRCP and the forces against the poor.

Accompanied by Anantapur candidate B. Gurunath Reddy besides senior party leader Visvesvar Reddy, Pyla Narsimhiah and others, he conducted the road show to good crowds. The response was huge from the old and the women .

He accused the Congress of watering down the pro-poor and pro-people schemes in the State while starting newer schemes which would not make much difference to the people eventually and cited the Re 1 per kilo rice scheme and argued that the rice given under the scheme was so substandard that it was impossible for the poor to eat them.

On the other hand, getting into a frontal attack on TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu, he sought to remind the people that it was the TDP government under his leadership that had brought upon the farmers of the district travails unheard of before and also reminded them that their fate changed when Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy came to power.

Mr. Jagan is slated to go to Rayadurgam where he will campaign for the party in a road show and public meeting scheduled on Monday.
