Former Congress MLA to join YSRCP

Former Congress MLA Gunti Venkateswara Prasad, who represented Railway Kodur (SC) constituency from 2004-09, is all set to join YSR Congress Party during Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy's tour of the constituency on Thursday.
Jagan invited
Dr. Prasad invited Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy for lunch in his house at Chitvel on May 17 after conveying his decision to join YSRCP, according to informed sources.
Efforts prove futile
The former MLA decided to quit the Congress and efforts by Rajampet MP A. Sai Prathap and Minister for Endowments C. Ramachandraiah, to ensure his continuance in the ruling party proved futile.
Denied ticket
Dr. G.V. Prasad who contended for Congress ticket for Railway Kodur, in the by-elections slated on June 12, stayed away from Congress election campaign so far as he was peeved at the party nominating Kanaparthi Easwaraiah, who unsuccessfully contested in several elections, on the recommendation of Congress MLC B. Chengalrayulu. The former MLA stayed away from Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy's recent tour of Railway Kodur segment.
