Dokka to Jagan: emulate Sonia and Parvathamma

State Rural Development Minister Doka Manikyavaraprasada Rao on Sunday suggested to YSRCP President Y S Jaganmohan Reddy to emulate UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and M. Parvathamma, the party candidate for the Ongole Assembly seat. “We have great respect for YSR. But it is not proper to continue with the Odarpu yatra for years together. You(Mr Jaganmohan Reddy) should take a cue from Ms. Sonia Gandhi and Ms. Parvathamma, who have courageously faced the loss of their husbands and carried on unfinished tasks left by Rajiv Gandhi and Magunta Subbrami Reddy'', he told a meeting to prepare the party workers for the prestigious bypoll.

He urged the party cadre to highlight welfare and development initiatives of the UPA Government at the Centre and the Congress Government in the State and also caution the people that the YSRCP was trying to “buy votes with ill-gotten wealth to indulge in more scams''.

Party MLAs B N Vijaykumar, M Ugra Narasimha Reddy and A Suresh, former Municipal Chairman Mantri Srinivasa Rao were present.

Anantapur:Jagan hits out at Congress

YSR Congress Party president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, on the first day of his tour of Anantapur district,

decried the Congress for neglecting the people in the State even as he asked the people to vote for the party in the by-elections.

Speaking at a road show in Venugopal Nagar and other areas which are going to the polls as a part of the Anantapur Assembly constituency, he said that the elections were between the poor people supported by YSRCP and the forces against the poor.

Accompanied by Anantapur candidate B. Gurunath Reddy besides senior party leader Visvesvar Reddy, Pyla Narsimhiah and others, he conducted the road show to good crowds. The response was huge from the old and the women .

He accused the Congress of watering down the pro-poor and pro-people schemes in the State while starting newer schemes which would not make much difference to the people eventually and cited the Re 1 per kilo rice scheme and argued that the rice given under the scheme was so substandard that it was impossible for the poor to eat them.

On the other hand, getting into a frontal attack on TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu, he sought to remind the people that it was the TDP government under his leadership that had brought upon the farmers of the district travails unheard of before and also reminded them that their fate changed when Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy came to power.

Mr. Jagan is slated to go to Rayadurgam where he will campaign for the party in a road show and public meeting scheduled on Monday.

Defeat Congress, YSRCP: Narayana

CPI State secretary K. Narayana has called upon the people to defeat the ‘scam-tainted' Congress and YSR Congress Party led by Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy in the forthcoming by-elections to 18 Assembly constituencies.

Participating in a meeting of the party's Greater Hyderabad council, Dr. Narayana said while the Congress was facing charges of corruption and irregularities, Mr. Jagan was facing probes for accumulating “ill-gotten” wealth. On the separate Telangana issue, he said the suspension of the Telangana MPs from Lok Sabha was part of the Congress' “drama” on the issue.

The Congress should stand as “accused” in the people's court and would pay heavy price for its indecision on the sensitive Telangana issue.

Mr. Narayana while welcoming the decision taken by the Centre on Pranahita-Chevella, said that the demand for Telangana would not get subdued by merely taking up the project. He said that besides fulfilling long-standing wish of the people, the project would provide relief to people of Telangana

TRS colluding with YSR Congress, says BJP

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused the Telangana Rashtra Samiti of colluding with YSR Congress Party of Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy for ensuring the latter's victory in the upcoming by-election in Parkal Assembly constituency.

Taking objection to the TRS' criticism of the BJP, party spokesman N.V.S.S. Prabhakar alleged that the TRS never criticised Mr. Jagan in spite of the spate of cases registered against him and was instead putting all out efforts to ensure YSRCP's victory from the Parkal constituency. The TRS' criticism of the BJP which brought national attention to Telangana through calling attention motion in Lok Sabha and a private member resolution in Rajya Sabha was indicative of its collusion with the YSRCP.

At a press conference, Mr. Prabhakar ridiculed the TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao for stalling the Parliament . There was no truth in TRS' claims on fielding its candidate from Mahbubnagar constituency to protect the interests of minorities, he said.
