Court permits Jagan to visit Idupulapaya

The principal Special Court for CBI Cases here on Monday relaxed conditions of bail granted to Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy in the quid pro quo investments case and allowed him to visit Idupulapaya in Kadapa district to pay respects at his father’s memorial on October 1.

The court, however, turned down Mr. Jagan’s plea for visiting Guntur on October 4 for participating in a farmers’ rally there.

During the arguments on the relaxation petition earlier in the day, counsel for CBI K. Surender argued against giving any relaxation in the bail conditions stating that Mr. Jagan was a highly influential person and there was every possibility that he could threaten witnesses if allowed to leave Hyderabad as most of the witnesses were staying outside the city.

Besides, bail petitions of some of the accused in the case were still pending and any relaxation in Mr. Jagan’s bail conditions would hamper the process.

Highly technical case

Appearing for Mr. Jagan, senior counsel Susheel Kumar said the case against his client was a highly technical one based on documents and all documents and depositions of witnesses were already in the custody of the investigation agency.

There was no chance of his client tampering with any evidence or threatening any witness he was against foregoing the freedom granted by the court by resorting to any action that would attract the court’s attention, he explained.

In his orders later in the evening, the Judge ordered that Mr. Jagan should not visit any other place except Idupulapaya, should neither influence any witness nor address any public meeting and return to the city on Wednesday morning.

YSRC shuts door on Sabbam Hari

YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader Jaganmohan Reddy’s release from jail has opened the door for Seema-Andhra Congress leaders opposed to Telangana and the loser in the end is the Congress itself.

Angry at the Congress’s July 30 decision to divide Andhra Pradesh, these leaders are rushing to join the YSRCP, which stands for a united Andhra Pradesh.

In the past two-three days, Pinipe Vishwaroop, a state minister, and Lok Sabha MP SPY Reddy have resigned from the party to join the YSRCP.

Though chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy has accepted Vishwaroop’s resignation, the resignations of about 12 Seema-Andhra ministers are pending with him from more than a month. In his resignation letter, Vishwaroop had stated the Telangana decision as the reason for his departure. According to YSRCP sources, he will contest the Lok Sabha election on the party ticket in 2014

Doctors meet

The monthly meeting of Indian Medical Association at AMCOSA Hall with president K V Ram Prasad on Sunday opposed the bifurcation of the State citing the inequalities in growth in the state and development concentrated in and around Hyderabad.

The association has been expressing its opposition to the division of the State with rallies, demonstrations and representations to MPs to resign. Members pointed out that hospitals with state-of-the-art technology and services were established in Hyderabad both in public and private sectors and the number of M.B.B.S., post-graduation and super speciality seats were far higher in Telangana region compared to the rest of the State.
