PCC secretary to join YSRCP

There is much anxiety and anticipation in the different political camps here in view of the visit of Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy to the city on Friday. Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy is coming here to invite former MLA Vangaveeti Radhakrishna into the party fold at a programme in front of the statue of assassinated MLA Mohana Ranga Rao.
The names of several Congress leaders, some former corporators in particular, are being heard as probable candidates to join the YSR Congress Party. The Congress leaders are using every trick in the book to keep the flock together.
The YSR Congress leaders are trying hard to lure the disgruntled elements.
PCC secretary Gadda Manikyala Raju has announced that he is joining the YSR Congress Party.
While others have not come out openly, Mr. Raju has announced that he is going to join YSR Congress because he is vexed with the Congress.
At a press conference here on Thursday, Mr. Raju said that he had been an active member of the Indian National Congress for over two decades and had occupied several responsible posts in it. He worked hard for the development of the party and also campaigned for the Congress candidates in Vijayawada Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.
Mr. Raju said that he was badly hurt when his party did not consider him for any of the nominated posts.
These posts were being filled by the persons unknown to the Congress circles.
Mr. Raju said the targeting of former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy “just because his son started his own political party” had also hurt him. He also felt that the Congress was not doing anything for the SCs, the section he belonged to.
Mr. Raju said that he had full confidence in the capacity of former MLA Vangaveeti Radhakrishna to get things done. “Mr Radhakrishna is a fighter and we are confident that he will fight for the demands of the SCs,” Mr. Raju said.
