Stakes high for YSRCP in Ramachandrapuram

By-election to the Ramachandrapuram constituency is going to be prestigious for MLA and former Minister Pilli Subashchandra Bose, who shifted his loyalty from the Congress to the YSR Congress Party. Though he is confident of winning again from this constituency, the Congress and Telugu Desam are also making all-out their efforts for victory of their candidates.

Mr. Bose won this seat in 2004 as an Independent and later joined Congress party and then won on the Congress ticket in 2009. His wife had faced allegations of cheating unemployed youth, promising them jobs and collecting money from them. He is also facing charges of selling Christian minority lands in the constituency to some bigwigs. Representing Backward Classes, Mr. Bose is having good following in the constituency and enjoys rapport with people. He is known for easy accessibility and also has taken up many development activities in the constituency. Mr. Bose is drafting all his followers from the district to campaign for him. YSRCP chief Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy kicked off his campaign much before the Congress and TDP in this constituency and door-to-door campaign was also launched by Mr. Bose.

He is confident of winning his settee-balija community votes, which are more than 30 per cent in this constituency. The total votes are 1,75,344, of which 81.16 per cent were polled in 2009 elections and Mr. Bose won 56,589 (39.89 per cent) and the difference of margin is 2.83 per cent.

Now, Congress candidate and two-time winner Thota Trimurthulu and Telugu Desam Party candidate and former Minister Chikkala Ramachandra Rao are counting on the margin of votes that Mr. Bose gained in the last elections. A tilt of 2.5 to 3 per cent of votes will decide the fate of the candidate in this constituency and Mr. Bose is now concentrating on Kapu community votes from which two leaders are contesting as opponents.
