YSRCP, Congress activists clash

                                                                          
Tension prevailed at Yemmiganur following skirmishes between the supporters of YSR Congress Party and the Congress during election campaign on Sunday. The police resorted to lathi-charge several times to control the mob and took into custody five persons.
In a daring raid, a mob of YSRCP followers attacked the convoy of Congress leaders much to the shock of APCC president Botcha Satyanarayana, MP Kotla Jayasuryaprakasa Reddy and Ministers T.G. Venkatesh, Erasu Pratap Reddy and Satrucharla Vijayaramaraju.
The trouble started at Somappa Circle when the YSR Congress supporters tried to disrupt the rally of motor cycles which was passing at the head of the Ministers' vehicle. The police intervened and dispersed the assailants.
The Ministers condemned the incident saying there was no place for violence in peaceful campaign. Both groups clashed against around noon after the Congress meeting and both sides burnt the party flags.
The tension spilled into a major clash in the evening when the banners and flags were set on fire. The police took into custody five supporters of YSR Congress and resorted to lathi-charge.
In protest against the arrest, a mob of 50 people tried to demonstrate at the police station, which was foiled.
The protesters raised slogans against Mr. Botcha Satyanarayana for his criticism of Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy, accusing him of fomenting trouble.Jagan's canvassing
The canvassing by Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy went on for the second day in Yemmiganur constituency on Sunday.
He addressed meetings at Mugathi, Nandavaram, Halaharvi, Yemmiganur Town, Banavasi and other places. He drew good response to the meeting at Somappa Circle in the evening. He tried to cover more streets in the town following reports of weak presence of the party in some localities.
Meanwhile, the news of possibility of CBI personnel serving summons on him spread across the constituency. The camp of Mr. Reddy waited with bated breath following the media reports.
